A Midsummer Night's Dream

A Midsummer Night's Dream

OCTOBER 30 - 7PM
OCTOBER 31 - 7PM
NOVEMBER 1 - 2PM, 7PM

Two young people are in love, and their marriage is forbidden by angry and disapproving elders, as well as the laws of the land.  If it sounds like Romeo and Juliet, then you're not far off - but this one ends VERY differently.  The two lovebirds, Hermia and Lysander, flee Athens in the dark of night so they can escape, elope, and find happiness in a new place…but there are complications.  They're not the only ones in the woods that night - they're being followed by Demetrius, Lysander's rival for Hermia's hand in marriage, and Helena, Hermia's best friend, who is desperately in love with Demetrius and determined to win him back.  What's more, there's a group of lovable tradesmen in the woods rehearsing a play that they want to perform publicly at the wedding of the ruler of Athens, and they are CONVINCED they will earn fame and riches from their performance, despite the fact that they do not know what they're doing.  Oh, and then there's the King and Queen of the Faeries, Oberon and Titania, also in the woods with their respective Fae courts, and the royal couple are having some…marital disagreements that have natural disaster-level consequences.  Mistaken identity, magic, mayhem, and transfiguration ensue as these three groups run amok in the forest, before all is magically settled and a happy ending carries us all off to the land of dreams.
