NEW FOR 2025-2026 - FCPS VOLUNTEER PROCEDURE HAS CHANGED

FCPS has implemented a new volunteer program for 2025-2026. The previous "volunteer badge" program has ended.  ALL volunteers must now submit a volunteer application requiring LBSS and FCPS approval. The initial application will take about 10-15 minutes to complete. 

Note: Everyone volunteering at Lake Braddock must register as a Lake Braddock volunteer, even for volunteer tasks that do not occur during the school day hours. FCPS employees at another school must also apply to volunteer at Lake Braddock.  

Please follow these instructions at your earliest convenience so we can have a full list of approved volunteers for this school year. The process is currently taking 3-4 weeks. 

1) Visit https://www.fcps.edu/get-involved/volunteer-fcps

2) Select "Create a Profile"

3) Click "Schools"

4) Use keyword "lake" to help find Lake Braddock faster

5) Click "Learn More" 

6) Under "Programs for Lake Braddock Secondary" - see General Volunteering and click "learn more" 

7)Click "Sign Up" 

8) Choose "New Volunteer" (note: EVERYONE is a new volunteer this year)

9) Create a User Account (email/password) and complete the information form 

10) Submit and continue to the next page of onboarding - Click "next" and then click the button on the right that says "let's begin" 

11) Watch the 7:26 video - NOTE: You must watch all 7:26. Also NOTE: you do not want to click "Watch on YouTube" - you must watch it through the FCPS platform or you will end up watching it twice. 

12) Complete Step 3 - the application. Please review carefully the levels of volunteering. Lobby volunteers during shows (concessions, sales tables, etc) or volunteers that complete tasks at home and only occasionally visit the school, may select Tier 2. 

Volunteers that will be monitoring students or assisting students in any way (backstage monitors, tech day monitors, field trip chaperones, must select Tier 3. 

13) Please email volunteer@lbtboosters.org to let us know your application has been submitted. 

14) Please monitor your FCPS volunteer dashboard. 

NOTE:  It does not appear that you will receive any type of email verification for creating your profile or submitting your application. 

15) Once your application has been "ACCEPTED" at the school level, you will receive an email asking you to login to the volunteer portal again and complete next steps. 

NOTE: this will include scheduling an appointment for fingerprinting at either the FCPS Gatehouse facility or a “Fieldprint” location. 

16) Once FCPS has approved your volunteer application, you will receive a second email letting you know your onboarding is complete and you are now welcome to volunteer at Lake Braddock. 

17) PLEASE send an email once you have received the "you are now welcome to volunteer" email to volunteer@lbtboosters.org  Please include what Level of volunteer you applied (1, 2, or 3).
