DETAILED INFORMATION ABOUT THE UPCOMING LAKE BRADDOCK THEATRE AWARDS

As you may be aware, the Lake Braddock Theatre Awards will take place on May 24th at LBSS. This event is open to, and we encourage attendance from all students and families involved in the high school Lake Braddock Theatre whether in class, extracurricular shows, or both.

The event will begin at 6:00 pm with a potluck dinner for current 9th-12th graders and their families in the school cafeteria. We ask that all potluck contributions arrive by 5:45 and quickly set up on the tables that our booster leadership will direct you to. Sign ups to help with prior set up will be released shortly.

We are asking that all families contribute to this potluck event. A sign up genius link can be found HERE to commit whether you wish to bring a main dish, side dish, appetizer, salad, drinks, paper products, etc.

We are expecting to feed a large crowd and appreciate everyone’s community contribution. Dishes can be homemade, purchased, there are no real rules other than committing to a category. PLEASE DO BRING whatever utensil is needed to serve your contribution and set it with your dish. Please label ALL of your items with your name and please include a note with any information that would be helpful (allergens, vegetarian/vegan, what an item is if not obvious, etc).

During dinner in the 6 pm hour, after our folks make it through the buffet line and being seated, the International Thespian Society induction will take place. This invites students who have met the requirements and applied into the theatre honor society for next year.

We will head to the Little Theatre for the primary award ceremony at 7:00 pm. We will have to return to the cafeteria after the awards to reclaim food serving items and complete our clean up.

The Lake Braddock Theatre Awards will begin with the symbolic “first bow” of the rising freshmen entering the department, our way of welcoming and celebrating their future with LBT. Current 8th graders will receive this invitation from Ms. Mitchell shortly. The remainder of the evening will consist of a combination of student created skits and performances, awards for achievements in the productions over the course of the year, sending off the class of 2024, and (secrets secrets) the announcement of next year’s season.

The Lake Braddock Theatre Awards does not require tickets, though we would love to know how many to expect from your family! We hope that you will join us in celebrating the wonderful year these students have had.

From the opening workshops, to a year of amazing times in class, to our first production Almost, Maine charming audiences, to a trip to VTF and a VHSL one act that received multiple acting commendations and progressed to regionals, to the smash hit box office success and great fun of Something Rotten, to the wonderful student directed production of Black Coffee, to the (now ongoing) fights of Shakespeare one act in theatre 3/4 and one act cut of A Midsummer Night’s Dream in theatre 1, to successful Unplugged evenings, to the artistic achievement and now highly Cappies nominated season closer Romeo and Juliet…2023-2024 has been a year to remember and I’m so grateful for it being my first. And eternally grateful to the parents who share their children with this department, and the Booster organization that makes it all possible.

We look forward to seeing you on May 24th! Don’t forget to sign up for food contributions at the link above!

Sincerely,
